The Alex Dinkel Foundation was developed to improve the health and lives of individuals affected by Ewing’s Sarcoma and other pediatric cancers. We carry out our mission by providing research grants, community services and education through our partnership with leaders in the medical and business communities. Our outreach workers, educators and volunteers are dedicated to improving the quality of life of both the children diagnosed with pediatric cancers and their families, so that they Fight to Keep “Staying Alive!”

The Alex Dinkel Foundation is also proud to introduce it’s WAM Program (Wheels and Meals) for families of children diagnosed with pediatric cancers. Children with Ewing’s and other sarcoma cancers in other cities and states will be granted funding for transportation, meals and other needs while being treated at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

On March 5, 2007 Alex was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma Skull Based Tumor. Alex endured brain, lung, and numerous other surgeries and procedures to survive. Alex’s team of Oncologists at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center provided cutting edge medical treatment that was completed in December 2007. With continued scans and tests over the next five years, Alex’s doctors will monitor him to make sure the cancer has not returned.

On August 10, 2008, Alex suffered a SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) and went into a coma. Again, his team of doctors at CCHMC did numerous tests to find the cause and save Alex’s life with no damage to the brain. Alex’s heart has suffered some damage from one of the chemotherapy drugs needed for his survival. He has a defibrillator to prevent the cardiac arrests and to continue with his normal activities. Alex is now 17 years old and a senior at Covington Catholic High School. He will graduate in May 2009 with his friends.

The Alex Dinkel Foundation and the people it represents inspired Alex to keep fighting his battle with cancer. The Alex Dinkel Foundation Fighting Ewing’s Sarcoma motto is… Fight to Keep “Staying Alive!” Alex would like to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support. Alex requests continued prayers for all the children and families everywhere suffering from these life threatening diseases.

Dedicated proceeds from the Alex Dinkel Foundation, a 501-C3 non-profit organization, will go to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center for their Hematology/Oncology Clinic to continue their advanced medical research to find a cure and clinical trials.
